Elli Paspala was born in New York City. She finished the “Saint Demetrios” Greek Elementary School of Astoria in the U.S. and graduated from the Fiorello H. La Guardia High School of Music and the Arts. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Manhattan School of Music where she took singing lessons with the soprano Judith Raskin as her teacher. From the age of 16 she started singing in New York City, but her professional career began at the age of 20 singing at several pubs and concerts, performing classical and Greek songs, while also taking acting lessons with the actor William Hickey.

She worked with the famous director Bob Wilson in his production “Medea” both as a singer and an actress. She was fortunate to have met Mikis Theodorakis, Melina Merkouri, Jules Dassin and many other great artists acting and singing in Dassin’s “The Rehearsal”. In 1982 she comes to Greece, she meets Manos Hadjidakis and they work together on many albums – the first of them being the “Pornography” – and hold many concerts.

Six years later, she begins her solo career releasing her first album “In the Glow of the Moon” (1988). She has worked with some of most illustrious Greek artists, such as Stamatis Kraounakis, Dionyssis Savvopoulos, Lena Platonos, Stamos Semsis, Nikos Xydakis, Nikos Portokaloglou, Nikos Antypas, Notis Mavroudis, Active Member, Raining Pleasure etc. One of the turning points in her career is her collaboration with Panagiotis Kalatzopoulos and Evanthia Reboutsika, who she also has a very deep friendship with. 2010 is a milestone for Elli’s professional career, marked by her collaboration with the composer Stavros Xarchakos and accompanied by numerous live performances in Athens (Gazarte), Thessaloniki (Megaron Mousikis Thessalonikis) and many other cities in Greece. She has also worked for both live performances and albums with top musicians such as David Lynch, Takis Farazis, Stavros Lantsias, Giotis Kiourtsoglou, and great singers, such as Maria Farantouri. In the past few years she has been performing in concerts in Greece, Cyprus and abroad.
