Katerina Polemi

Katerina Polemi was born in London by a Brazilian mother and a Greek father. She studied music at the renowned Berklee College of Music in the United States where she lived for five years. In 2011 she released her first album called “Spread the Music not the Name” with high reviews from magazines such as JazzTimes (USA), AllAboutJazz (USA), Jazz & Jazz (Greece), VIMagazino (Greece), and went on doing concerts in Boston, New York, Brazil and Greece. Besides the numerous small jazz bars in the world, she has performed at Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, The Hatch Shell of Boston and Regatta Bar.

In 2012 she wrote the music for the theatrical-musical, “Eurydice” by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Dimitris Tarlow, where she recorded her second album called “Eurydice” with authentic pieces of the play. She has composed the music for the film “Mikra Agglia” by Pantelis Voulgaris, based on the homonymous novel by Joanna Karystiani that will be out in cinemas in December 2013.
